Jacqueline Kennedy was an American icon with a global reputation of being dignified during the days of her unspeakable pain when her husband, John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Another brilliant actress is now joining the group of powerful performers who embodied the unique Jackie character.
Natalie Portman, 33-year-old Oscar-winning actress is set to relive that historic time in a movie portraying the life of Jackie Kennedy. The movie is titled Jackie and is scheduled to enter the production process by the end of 2015. According to a source familiar with the project, “Jackie talks about the days when Jackie Kennedy becomes an icon but has lost everything.” Filmmaker from Chile Pablo Larrain will direct the film while Darren Aronofsky has been chosen to produce it.
Aronofsky worked with Portman once before, namely on the movie that brought her the Academy Award, the Black Swan. Natalie Portman recently debuted as a director as well, and her movie Tale of Love and Darkness is set to premiere in Cannes at the International Film Festival this year. Actresses who before Portman embodied Jackie included Katie Holmes, Jill Hennessy, Minka Kelly and Jaclyn Smith.
This is not Portman’s only project where she is portraying a public figure – she will also play Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, another powerful woman who marked American history.
